In Hindu calendar completed one month included 28/29 days according to thithi which is based on moon rotations and month is  with two parts first 15 days Shukla paksh (Part) and next 15 days Krishna Paksh(Part) .  Krishna Paksha started with waxing moon and Shukla Paksha from rising moon.

In Maharashtra every Marathi Hindu family brought Shri Ganeshmurthi very devotionally at thier home for 11  days and then immersion on Anant Charturdashi means 14th date of Hindu panchang CalendarI. In 11 days people celebrating with Ganesh pooja making various sweets specially Modak prasad to Shri Ganesha,Lord Shri Ganesha is Buddhi and shakti  devata (intelligent Power and prosperity )

In Hindu Lord Shri Ganesh having his 108 name used in his worship, now almost all people celebrate Shri Ganesh Chaturthi in India Devotionaly.
